We recently assisted with a large industrial installation of our 2 part epoxy high build factory floor coating working alongside the client and their on site installation team Even Flow Decorators. Factory flooring is one of the main installation services we can assist with as they tend to be large projects which require hands on help from our technical department from specification and application guidance right through to completion. Often these projects are on a tight schedule therefore ensuring the installation runs smoothly is critical.
What Was The Brief?
The client; Neptune Precision Engineering are specialists in mould making & injection moulding and sought us out as they required a highly resilient coating that could withstand many chemicals, heavy vehicle traffic a well as being aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean. Neptune required on site decorators to carry out the work however they had little experience installing 2 part epoxy resin floor coatings.

How Did We Help?
After initially discussing the brief with the client Mark, from our technical team headed up the project by firstly carrying out a virtual site inspection. This initial inspection allowed us to get a feel for the project and a better understanding for the clients’ requirements. An on-site inspection was then carried out allowing us to build a specification and advise on preparation work. Grinding was advised with a diamond teethed grinder to ensure the floor was completely smooth. The grinding also helps create a key for the epoxy to adhere to. On the physical inspection oil contaminants were identified, therefore an oil tolerant primer was recommended, along with 2 coats of epoxy factory floor coating.
We also played a pivotal role in the application process. Our team delivered on site training to the decorating team, this included preparation standards as well as application techniques. With a large, industrial area size correct preparation is critical to ensure successful application of the coating and its durability. Additionally, when working with a 2 part component such as epoxy resin correct mixing and application ensures quick and easy application especially when you’re working under time constraints due to pot life and working time.
What Was The Finished Result?
The project was completed as planned within the desired time schedule with the client able to move in to the premises before Christmas. See some comments below from the installation team
